Past trips

April 2025:

Our first trip for 2025 was to the Eastern Grit area of the Peak District 26 th – 27 th April. For
this trip, we camped at Pindale. On Saturday, the club climbed at Stanage Edge. This was a
fairly overcast day. We climbed a variety of routes, with a mixture of leaders and seconds.
For some of our members, it was a first time leading trad with more experienced members
supporting. To end the day, we had a group meal in Hathersage. On Sunday, we went to
Burbage North. The weather on this day was much sunnier and warmer. Our new leaders
continued gaining experience on this day. The group enjoyed climbing several routes in the
sunshine.

July 2025:

Last summer, 11 th -13 th July, the club went on a trip to the Gower Peninsula in Wales. We had blisteringly hot weather, which was great for camping but did make climbing a bit more of a challenge! On our first day, four members met at Three Sisters for limestone sea cliff sport climbing before heading back to the campsite. On our second day, the club split with two members heading to Fall Bay while the others headed to Three Cliffs Bay to trad climb on the beach. This ended up being in full sun and club members did take a swim in the sea to cool off! The club then reunited for a barbecue back at the campsite. On Sunday, our final day, we decided to chase the shade and headed to Rhossili for sport climbing. Members split to climb at a few different crags and follow our different interests. Finally, some
members ended the trip with ice cream while others went for a swim on the fantastic beach at Rhossili.

August 2025:

For our August trip, 16 th – 17 th , the club visited the Western Grit area of the Peak District. On
the Saturday, the club met at Ramshaw Rocks. This was a first visit to this crag for many
members. Members found Ramshaw to live up to its reputation of stiff grading. Various
climbs were ascended and top ropes were set on some routes as well. On Sunday, the club
climbed at the Roaches. At the Roaches, members climbed several routes.

July 2024:
For our first trip of the year we went to the southern sandstone crags in Kent, visiting Harrison's rocks on the Saturday and Bowles rocks on the Sunday.

August 2024:
On the weekend 10th & 11th August 2024, we had our second club trip of the year. This trip was well attended with a good mix of old and new members, for one of whom it was his first outdoor trip! It was great to see everyone. On Saturday, we met at Stanage Edge near Hollin Bank. We climbed several routes between us. The weather was decidedly mixed with sunny spells and a rainy squall in the afternoon, which saw us diving for cover under some of the larger boulders. After camping at Pindale Farm, we resumed climbing on Sunday at Lawrence Field. The weather was very warm and sunny, a nice contrast to the previous day. Some members joined later, after visiting Outside in Hathersage. Two participants also joined us for only this day. Again, we climbed a variety of routes between us, with top ropes being put up on harder routes for club members to try. All in all, this was a great trip and hopefully enjoyed by all!

September 2024:
For out September tip we went Sport climbing in North Yorkshire. On the Saturday we went to Gigglewick south, with some newer club members doing there first outdoor leads.
On the Sunday bad weather forced us to retreat south and we climbed at Horse-Thief quarry in the Peak District until the rain caught up with us again forcing an early end to the trip.
